New: six website templates to choose from.

Look and feel

Templates, colours and fonts

Choose a template, pick a colour palette and fine-tune individual colours.

Open Design in the left-hand menu. Changes apply to every page straight away.

Templates

A template is the overall design of your website: its layout, fonts, shapes and mood. Choose Change under Template to see your own website in each template before you decide. Your words, photos, pages and sections stay exactly the same, because only the design changes.

Template Feels
Classic Warm and editorial, with serif headlines and soft arches
Modern Bold and cinematic, with full-screen photos and a dark look
Playful Friendly and rounded, with wavy edges and cheerful colours
Studio Calm and minimal, with a fine grid and plenty of space
Luxe Elegant and refined, with graceful serif type and framed photos
Pop Loud and fun, with chunky outlines and bright blocks

When you switch, your colours change to the new template's first palette, unless you choose Keep my custom colours. Your previous design is saved in History, so switching back is one click (Versions and restoring).

Photos are cropped to suit each template's shapes. If one looks a little off after switching, click it and adjust the crop (Photos and images).

Colour palettes

Each template comes with a few palettes that have been chosen to work well together. Choose one and your whole website updates. It's a great place to start, even if you plan to adjust things.

Fine-tune colours

Under Fine-tune colours you can change any individual colour:

Colour Used for
Accent Highlights, icons, links and highlighted words in headings
Text & buttons Headings, main text and buttons
Soft text Paragraphs and supporting text
Soft background Coloured panels such as the gallery and call-to-action
Page background The main background

Click a colour swatch to pick a new one, or type a hex code such as #a94d32 if you know your brand colours. The ↺ button resets one colour, and Reset all colours returns to the palette.

Keeping things readable

If two colours don't contrast enough, for example light text on a light background, you'll see a yellow warning. Readable text matters for everyone and is part of making your website accessible, so it's worth adjusting until the warning goes.

Fonts

Fonts are part of each template's design and are chosen to pair well together, so they can't be changed. The fonts your template uses are listed at the bottom of the Design panel.
