New: six website templates to choose from.

Building your website

Editing text

Click any words on your page and start typing.

Click and type

Click any text on your page, whether it's a heading, a paragraph or a button, and start typing. A blue outline shows what you're editing. Click somewhere else or press Esc when you're done. Changes save automatically.

Empty boxes show a faint hint, like Small heading, while you're working on that section. Anything you leave empty won't appear on your published website.

Bold and highlighted words

When you're editing a heading or paragraph, a small toolbar appears above it:

  • B makes words bold.
  • I highlights words. In most templates this shows them in your accent colour and a softer style, which looks lovely in headings such as More happy tails.

You can also use Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I (⌘B and ⌘I on a Mac).

Press Enter in a heading to start a new line.

Click a button's words to change what it says. To change where it goes, use the Link button in the small toolbar, or select the section and use the panel on the right. A button can link to:

  • a page on your website, optionally jumping straight to a particular service
  • another website
  • an email address
  • a phone number

Clear a button's text to hide the button completely.

Pasting text

When you paste text from Word, an email or another website, we tidy it into plain text so it matches your website's style. Use the toolbar to add bold or highlights afterwards.

Things you edit in Settings instead

Your business name, strapline, contact details and social links appear in several places, so you change them once in Settings (Business details, logo and social links). Clicking them on the page opens Settings for you.
