Going live
Publishing your website
Put your changes live and understand builds.
While you edit, your changes are a draft: visitors to your website won't see them until you publish.
Publish
Choose Publish in the top bar, check the details and choose Publish now. We then:
- Prepare your pages and images, turning your website into fast, lightweight files.
- Upload them to your web address, so the new version replaces the old one.
This usually takes a few seconds. When it's finished you'll see Your website is live.
If you haven't set your domain yet, your website is prepared but can't go live. Add it first (Connecting your domain).
Builds and versions
Every publish creates a numbered build (Build 1, Build 2…) and saves a version of everything in the editor at that moment. Nothing is ever overwritten, so you can:
- see every build in History
- Make this live on an older build to roll your website back
- Restore an older version into the editor to carry on from there (Versions and restoring)
When should I publish?
Whenever you're happy with your changes. There's no limit, and publishing a small change is quick because only the files that changed are uploaded.
If something goes wrong
If the upload doesn't finish, your live website stays exactly as it was. Choose Try upload again. If it keeps happening, email us and we'll take a look.
Still stuck? Email hello@pawloophq.com and tell us what you were trying to do.
